The most important thing about you is how God sees you.

C.S. Lewis

My identity changes, when I choose to see myself as God sees me.

God created you and me; and He doesn’t make mistakes.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. —Isaiah 64:8

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…

Jeremiah 1:5

God who shaped your life in your mother’s womb, says: “I am God. I made all that is. With no help from you I spread out the skies and laid out the earth.”

Isaiah 44:24

God made you to be a part of his family. He made you to have a relationship with you. He made you to love you and to be loved in return.

God Made Me in His Image

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. —Psalm 139:14

Character

Character—to transfer an image from one thing to another; to press (experience or trial) to bear up under something

God wants to put His power/anointing/weightiness on our lives. Character is the pillars on which anointing rest.—Steven Mansfield

Character—the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing; an account of the qualities or peculiarities of a person or thing.

Suffering is redemptive. It is the process by which the imprint of God’s character is made. Once there’s character, there’s hope. Hope is to cling fruitfully to faith.

Jesus learned obedience from what He suffered/was made perfect. Hen 5:8

Suffering–they only way humans can take in the divine image.

God tests our hearts before approval/entrusting. I these 2:4, James 1:13

Authority / Stewardship

Authority over the animals

Stewardship over money/material things

Made for worship

We are destined for the praise of His worship. Lord, what is it that you want to received from my worship? What is it that delights the Lord? We are destined for radical passionate worship.—Ephesians 1:12

When God made us, to just give Himself to us, He let us in on how fabulous He is. Our creator is unselfish, He created us to give us gifts – give us Himself, give us His likeness and His ability to love and be holy. An aspect of love is the ability to adore. Worship is the ability or capacity to adore. Since you were created this way–you will worship someone/something. Selfishness robs you of personhood/your identity. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit have never thought of Themselves alone —They have always also thought of the other two–the entire Godhead.

Is God wanting us to worship Him a selfish thing? No. He just wants to share a good thing. There are reasons we are called to give God all our glory:

  1. He wants us to experience the highest pleasure in existence.
  2. God is the only author of life. We cannot take the credit for anything–as that would be deception. Your survival depends on worship–because He’s tethering you/connecting you every second of your life to your life source.

What glorifies God?  Eph 1:9-11 God’s will is to bring everything to all creative order—all things reconciled with God as boss as it will make everything/all creation make sense. Bring everything under the worship of Christ. This was not God’s response to the fall of man, this was the Father’s intent from the beginning. This was not Plan B. Our universe is a love expression from one of the God-head to another. Whenever whatever I’m doing has God as the head/central–I am caught up in God’s ecstasy—a dance of love.

Made in God's Image

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. —Genesis 1:27

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image,

  1. God’s image is perfect. We are fashioned for a purpose (perfectly suited)
  2. He did so as Creator – a creator is an artist

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. —Ephesians 2:10

Jesus is the image of the invisible God. We also were made in God’s image. The deeper I get to know Jesus, the more I find myself.

We are destined to be conformed to His image. There is a power to conform me into what God wants me to be. —Romans 8:29

When He looks at Me...

After I accepted the Lord, from now on He sees me in Christ. When He looks at me, He sees Christ not my sin. He accepts me the same exact way that He accepts Christ.

God’s gift to us has already been paid for—there is nothing we can do to earn it, pay for it, and there is nothing we can’t do good enough to not get it. All we have to do is receive.

Given Spiritual Gifts

He puts in us spiritual gifts at re-birth

1 Corinthians 12:7-11
But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

Romans 12:3-8
For through the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. And since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let each exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Ephesians 4:10-12
He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;

He Created a Masterpiece

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” —Ephesians 2:1

God Works Through My Weaknesses

God works through my weaknesses

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

I Am Destined to Die

We are destined to die. I live in knowledge of—not the fear of dying. I need to look at my life in the terms of the end. I need to live a more passionate, more filled life. “Carpé diem”—sieze the day. What I do here echoes in eternity. I need to live every day as though it weremy last. Ecclesiastes 7:2

God Sings Over Me

“The Lord your God is with you,
    the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Zeph 3:17

God Calls Me Beautiful

You call me beautiful, You find me flawless. SOS 4:7

I Have Resurrection Power

Resurrection power is in us. (The Holy Spirit power that raised Jesus from the dead.)

He puts streams of living water in us. “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” —John 7:38

God Declares Me Innocent

I am righteous “Therefore in Christ, I am the righteousness of God.” —2 Corinthians 5:19-21

God has taken care of the “trial” issue. (God is a righteous God and we stand accused of our sin.) But He has declared us innocent, so the Enemy has no legal basis to accuse you nor do you have to be subject to public opinion.

Being declared righteous gives us a chance to build faith. We are called to believe what God says about us, no matter what we feel.

God Placed in Me a Desire to Find Him

God places in us a desire to find Him

Jer 29:15; Deaut 4/19 When you seek me, you will find me. When you seek me with all your heart.

Psalms 27:8

God Has Put Eternity in My Heart

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.—Ecclesiastes 3:11

God Has Marked Me with a Seal

When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,  who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.—Ephesian 1:13b-14

You are a chosen people, Gods special creation. You matter to God, He selected you. You are a royal priesthood. You have a spiritual significance in the world today. You have a citizenship that is beyond this Boundaries of this world. You are God’s special possession.

When we name a dog, the dog doesn’t know you are calling their name…until we get a treat and call their name and they realize that when that name is called, “good things come my way”.

Some of us have gotten used to responding to the labels people have put upon us — divorcee, failure, broken. God has never called us by those names. He calls us chosen, beautiful, forgiven, clean… When God calls our name — good things happen.

God’s Wants Good Things for Me

He Wants Me to Live From My Heart Not Ignore It

You created my inmost being and then you occupied it. —Psalm 139:13 He wired into all of us hungers, directions, desires, longings, dreams in predestined form (before sin) waiting for the day that they would be awakened. God put into each one of us a good heart and wants us to live from it. He put into our heart desires for things He will give us.

My Heart Problem

The problem is when I become insensitive / hardened / numb, when I give myself over to a false version of living—living out of sensuality, frivolous carnal things. We’ve retained a sense that our hearts are evil and that they have to be crucified. So many of us are empty, angry people because we are still disconnected with our hearts.  Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. —Psalm 37:4 Jesus at the cross broke the force that holds our hearts in bondage. The more I become who God intended me to be, the more ME, I become. God is not in the business of erasing us. He wants us to reclaim our hearts!

Many of us have believed the conspiracy against us. In the form of hurt/abuse/trauma. The enemy hates for me to become who I was gloriously meant to be. He doesn’t want me to have the destiny that I was born for.  You and I both have a heart for God.  We need to take it out, clean it off, and start living from it!!!

What should I do?

  1. I can start by taming the busyness and noise in my life. I want to live my life —not have my life run me. I need alone time.
  2. I need to start listening to my heart, so I can deal with whatever I need to deal with. What am I longing for? What was I made for that I’m longing for?
  3. I need to look at the spiritual disciplines in a slightly different light. Prayer, word, fasting, seeking His face, intercession. Hebrews 4:12 Part of the purpose for these disciplines is to draw out the restored heart. When I allow the word of God into my life—it awakens my heart. These disciplines are for discerning, exposing and judging. Judging is looking for truth which draws out attitudes and thoughts of my heart. This brings the truth to the surface, bringing the truth to light. James 1:23

The more I become who God intended me to be, the more ME, I become.

We cannot afford to have any thought in our heads that He does not think about us. Anytime we entertain things that are not absolutely true about what He thinks about us. Then we are visiting things that will war against what He thinks about us.

Bill Johnson

God’s Promises Are for Me

God Gives Me A New Identity

How we live, who we are and who we are becoming is the biggest reveal of who God is.

My New

Identity

Psychologists say that if I see myself as a failure, then I will always eventually fail no matter how much I want to succeed. Instead of a psychologist wanting me to think better about myself, God starts by giving me a whole NEW identity! Each human being is valuable because each of us carry the image of God. We were created to know who we are but sin in the world messes this up. God created us to be somebody—He created us with innate VALUE! If we’re grasping for our “place” or we’re dominating / controlling / ruling over someone else — it’s because we’re having an identity crisis. Because we all deep down know that we were created for something. God has gifted us with abilities that are phenomenal! These gifts and talents will coincide with our God-given dreams and desires. As we find our identity, God releases them in us more and more.

To God, what was is not what is.

He calls me out of darkness into His marvelous light, so that I may declare His praises.
Isaiah 43:9

With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ’s being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.—Romans 8:1-2

You groped your way through that murk once, but no longer. You’re out in the open now. The bright light of Christ makes your way plain. So no more stumbling around. Get on with it! The good, the right, the true— these are the actions appropriate for daylight hours. Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it. —Eph. 5:8-10

 My old life

is gone

Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you. How? you ask. In Christ. God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God. —2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin’s every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did.—Romans 6:6-11

I Am Called to Be Free

Called to Be Free

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[b] 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

What Does Freedom Mean?

Freedom in Christ doesn’t mean you do whatever you want.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:13-18

The point where the Enemy is howling the loudest, bringing the most destruction, is the point where God is going to bring about LIFE. Death is always the precursor to life.

God Has a Destiny for My Life

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

What is Destiny?

In simple terms, destiny is God’s purpose for your life. It is your appointed or ordained future. Destiny is what God has predetermined you to be and to become, in His divine will.

Your destiny began before you were born; it’s a gift from God. (Psalm 139:13)

Faithful in little and the increase comes. Obedience is better than sacrifice. (Deuteronomy 28:1, 1 Peter 1:2, 2 John 1:6)

Anticipation and expectation will follow preparation. (Isaiah 31:41, Galations 6:9)

Holding On to God’s Promise

God has designed a birth-ing time, a ‘delivery date’ for my purpose and destiny to be made a reality in His kingdom. To the degree that I persevere and hold onto God’s promise is the degree that God will “fill my womb” and “fertilize the seed of hope in me”.  I need to make a covenant with God with His purpose and destiny for my life. A neutral, boring, mediocre life is replaced with my destiny.

My Plan for Holding On

I need to go and get cleaned up for the future. I need to make sure I align everything in my life up with God’s purpose. I need to be cautious to not let the good of the past compete with my future. I need to keep my gaze looking forward, not looking back.

I need to “put on my best garments”. I can’t wear the past. I shouldn’t wear a “widow’s garment”. I need to put on “bridal garments”, so that the groom (Jesus) will know His bride is waiting. I need to put away the injustices, the should of’s the could of’s. It’s an act of my will to put off the old and put on the new.

I need to wait by God’s feet. I need to give Him the timing and align myself to the one committed to me. I need to submit myself to God. My transformation is dependent upon me being willing to submit. When I rest in God’s promise—then He can release His strategy! In my weakness, God’s strength is made perfect!  I can let my past and my struggles become my fuel/my energy to walk out my destiny, because out of my weakness/my wounding comes my destiny.

Preparing for My Destiny Takes Time

Just like it did for these people:

Esther

3 years in preparation for the King

Moses

40 years spent as a shepherd

Joseph

13 years in preparation to save his family

Abraham

25 years in preparation to be the Father of generations

Paul

3 years being taught after conversion

Jesus

30 years before starting his mission

My destiny is in God’s hands, not man’s. I will hang onto scripture until it is fulfilled.

(Isaiah 46:11)

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord…”

I’m glad God doesn’t have just one plan for our lives. The thought that we either are perfect and “in His will” or not isn’t Biblically founded. God has plans… a multitude of plan A’s for our lives. Not only that, but when bad things happen He uses them to further His plans for our good and our future. His grace moves us forward.

Brian W. Wade

Hardship often prepares an ordinary person for an extraordinary destiny.

C.S. Lewis

God Works All Things for My Good

You teach me wisdom in my innermost parts

Psalm 51:6

God Fights FOR Me

For someone like me who fought to survive childhood and who now is an adult, my life problems/my uncomfortable circumstances can be overwhelming — especially since I’ve felt like I’ve been fighting my battle alone most of my life. However, the truth is that God was working on my behalf all those years even though I couldn’t see it and even though I gave up on Him. To learn that I have a Savior who has been fighting FOR me not against me is such a revelation! You mean, I’m not in this alone? You mean, I don’t have to carry these burdens—I can give them over to You, God? You mean, I can put my trust and faith in You and not worry about how things are going to turn out? You mean, You’re not just waiting for me to mess up? What a different outlook on my life that is!

What I have come to learn is God sees the big picture. God is working on my behalf for the long run not the short-term. God’s ways of doing things are most times very different from how I think they should be. And with God NOTHING is impossible. From the old testament, I’ve learned how He makes impossible circumstances work out by His power. He doesn’t ever care what things look like—He has the power to change anything. Instead, He’s looking for obedience from us and wants to change our hearts and those of our enemies in the process, so He does things in ways we don’t expect. For instance, He told His people to march around an unconquerable city wall of their enemy for six days and on the seventh day after circling seven times, to shout. Can you imagine? I’m sure that must have seemed like a very unusual, unproductive military tactic! BUT then when they did as He said, God caused the city walls to crumble and they easily defeated their enemy. Instead of doing things in a more typical fashion or handing them the land, He was teaching them faith and obedience. (Joshua 6:1-27) I think He’s doing the same kinds of things in my life, if I could but see it.

When I can handle life on my own, I don’t need faith or God.

Faith is activated by impossibility, the impossibility of circumstance, the inability of resource.

Romans 4:18-19, Philippians 4:19

When I feel cornered

By “giant” obstacles, complications, and problems that seem too large to handle, I can feel panic, feel fear, and/or hopelessness. But God’s word says: there is no battle too formidable or monumental for God to handle. Joshua 1:5

My confidence is in God, who will fight my battles and bring me safely home.

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” —Psalm 20:7

To let the “giants” steal my faith only leaves me defeated and puts me back in control of every problem when most problems I don’t have the knowledge or strength to handle on my own.

When it seems a situation is hopeless

Or the matter at hand is too overwhelming, I must remember  that there is no problem that is beyond the scope of God’s sovereign care for me, His child. He has promised to take care of me/fight my battles which means I do not have to be anxious or be discouraged when bad things happen in my life.

Out of faith, speak to your future. Declare what the word says. The battle is not your’s. Speak courage to yourself.

More:  Deuteronomy 20:4  Psalm 18:39  Psalm 34:17  Isaiah 41:10  Psalm 138:7  Isaiah 35:4  Psalm 28:7  Isaiah 45:2  Exodus 15:3

Our behavior is most often a reflection of our beliefs about who we are and what we are like. It is usually consistent with what we think to be true about ourselves.

Believe God’s word over the truth of your experience.

The Power of a New Identity—Dan Sneed

If you struggle with issues from rejection, fear, guilt or shame, it is possible that the picture you currently have of yourself is not built on truth. You hear about being a new creature in Christ, but like most Christians you still operate in terms of your “old” self. As a result, your past suffering and failure actually dictate who you are and how you act. According to Dan Sneed, this is spiritual oppression and it can be broken. With fresh insight and powerful teaching, he will guide you into biblical truth about God’s picture of you! Don’t let a false self-image continue to defeat you. Learn which lies you have believed and follow these life-giving steps to freedom.
